Could be.

IMO, in this era of digital communications, the old and
quaint (and vague) definitions of such terms should be
considered obsolete.

In digital network parlance, broadcast means specifically
transmission to all hosts in the network.

Multicast means transmission to a group of specific hosts
in the network. How the groups are formed varies according
to network protocol.

Another definition of multicast emerged more recently from
the DTV community, which would otherwise be called simply
"multiplexing." That's where you multiplex multiple
program streams over a given frequency band.

Unicast means transmissions between one pair of hosts.

Each of these types of communication can be encrypted or
otherwise protected, or deliberately limited in coverage.
