But will they work with 8VSB as well as with COFDM?
John Shutt just answered this question quite well:

Digital transition to be stalled since 1999 while we wait for it to be
perfected.

The problem is, even when it is "perfected" it still won't perform as well
as a COFDM receiver in a real world application. Media-Flo and DVB-H are
multi-carrier solutions. DAB is a multi-carrier solution. IBOC is a
multi-carrier solution. ISDB-T is a multi-carrier solution. Even the
Digital Television Systems in development in China are multi-carrier
solutions. For wireless broadcasting, I sense a trend in modulation
schemes, but I can't quite place my finger on what all other standards have
in common."
