but that shows a scant commitment to employing people with disabilities when the reason that company is in existence is because of being able to profit out of the needs of those with disabilities!

Sometimes Jackie when one leaves a particular post, the Management find thaton reviewing their staffing levels and recruitment policies they can makedifferent adjustments and move other staff around, employing some full-timeand others on an ad-hoc basis.----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairnsplace@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, November 04, 2010 2:31 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: FW: Re: Braille display optionsAs you know Paul, I gave S and S every assistance I could to advertise andrecruit a blind person with good Braille skills to become part of thecompany before I left. Sadly, however, nothing was done about it, I movedaway, and thankfully we all appear to be happy with the paths we have taken. (smile). We have Jonathan Tyrer, who works UK wide for us in thisrole. He is not a full time employee, but he works for us on a day to daybasis and has been successful. He has a very wide experience base - not just Freedom products, but all software and hardware and also more recently Apple solutions. This for me is what we are all about, looking after our customer base, soif you would like to learn more about the Focus 40 Blue just contact us and we will do our best to help. Sight & Sound are aware that it does not work with the N97 Mini as I told them. Also informed Freedom Scientific. Maybeit has to do with N97 Mini being a 5th generation phone but it works well with the other phones. Don't Sight & Sound have a service, well they didwhen Jackie worked there, where someone would come out and show you aBraille display, in that case, the person could try it with our phone andthen you would know before purchasing it. There is a really nice man at Freedom Scientific who uses the Focus Blue all the time with his phone. I wrote to him too re the drivers but whether they do anything about it or not is anyone's guess. While I was disappointed, I have to say of course that the Focus Blue is excellent in conjunction with PC also. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Catherine Turner" <catherineturner2007@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, November 02, 2010 9:24 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Braille display optionsAh. Did you ask the manufacturer about this? Is there a particular reason why it doesn't work with the n97 mini? Is there any way of knowing before purchase whether it would work or not. I will have to ask Sight And Sound about it, but presumably if it didn't work I could return it for a refund. So I am tentatively looking at braille display options. I need either to be able to write notes on the braille display, or for the display to work with my Nokia E5 mobile phone running Talks. Having used an 18 cell display for some time now I know I would not want to go below that. Am I right in thinking that the Focus 40 blue, at £1995 from Sight And Sound, would be the cheapest option?
