My impression was that they were pretty thorough in being careful.
When on the test stand during development that's true, but in war when
you're being shot at rules go out the window
and this was near the end when Germany was losing the war they pulled out
all the stops including forcing
slave labor to do the dirty work.
We have no idea being in a protracted time of peace being able to practice
our hobbies like rockets.
