        In lots of situations, less control works out OK.  On the  
other
 hand, if you treat people like criminals, they tend to behave  like

I would also like to see the logo under GPL.

GPL is not meant for logos - it is for software

        Is there any credible harm that a restrictive license is
 shielding us from?

Exactly what are we going to gain by this restriction? Preventing some
other foss conference using it?

I personally dont mind if another foss conference uses it - but Niyam  
has made it so good that lots of other people would be tempted to use  
it for their products.
