receipt of any sms you send in this manner. Using a kannel gateway
as someone else suggested would be the way to go.
Kannel is not suitable for the new model phone with-out serial i/f. If
you can get SMSC SMPP account, then fine. But now a days, operators
are not welling open the SMPP i/f to external members and it is costly
too.
Any bluetooth based solutions?
1. No bluetooth solutions exist on low end phones as services on handset
is curtailed.
2. Kannel may be an overkill. Ubuntu comes with a SMS gateway package.
Gnokii/Gammu/ Wammu can also be used.
3. Best option (given that your servers are remote) is to use a WebSMS
interface with a web services/HTTP/ SMPP API. Look up links below.
its4sms looks a better bet. I did explore them for an application that
required a 2 way SMS interaction.
4. For kicks, you can connect on a serial port as a terminal to a phone
and send SMS thro' AT commands.
