Ok, I understand you do not feel the broadcasters are using their =
channels
in the public interest, convenience or necessity.
Are there no TV network programs you like? Sounds like you want all the =
big
productions to fold up and TV to be just run by hobbists. Do you really
like to watch those community access channels on cable? That is my
impression of what you mean by giving the spectrum back to the people.

Me, tho I hate a lot of crap on TV, I do really enjoy a lot of it,
especially watching my fav football team's away games. I don't think =
some
guy with his little pc camera is going to give me the coverage of =
football
that I would watch!

Does your point of view follow also pertain to the satellite spectrum =
given
away by the FCC, which is being used for commercial purposes?

Tony

The property that he is talking about is owned by YOU and ME.

Fortunately, broadcasters are NOT the owners of the spectrum they=20
use. UNFORTUNATELY our elected representatives screwed up and allowed=20
them to treat this spectrum as if they own it, including the ability=20
to create markets for the sale of the spectrum they do not own.

Why should broadcasters have any special privileges with respect to=20
the spectrum? They have been loaned this spectrum to provide a public=20
service. They now believe that using the spectrum entitles them not=20
only to deliver TV through the spectrum, but to get paid for the=20
content by OTHER PRIVATE COMPANIES who are making what is available=20
FREE TO AIR to subscribers to their service.

This is totally screwed up, the result of decades of political=20
gerrymandering. Perhaos the time has come to give this precious=20
resource back to the people whoo own it.

Craig
