You should know by now there is not a snowball's chance in Hell of selling any other modulation standard before we all get to use 8vsb for awhile. ;-)

And since it is so nifty it would not hurt to allow another
modulation. Since there is no difference according to Bert nothing
would happen. It would be a non event.

On the other hand if there is a difference all hell could break loose.

Yes, I'm willing to speculate that 8vsb is the niftiest thing since sliced

Further delay.

Thinking outside the box again. Who would have thought that
further delay was the answer?
The logic being that those who made the mess somehow might
know how to fix it?
Apples and oranges, Bob.

This delay is NOT caused by 8-VSB. This delay is caused by only one main
factor, and that factor would still apply even if we had DVB-T:

Making the transition happen, countrywide, in the blink of an eye.

My advice to the FCC is to take this request for a delay as an
opportunity to reschedule how the transition should be made. Doing it in
one fell swoop, no matter what the date, will create the same sort of
hand wringing and last minute stage frights.
