What we have in reality NOW is a wide variety of information sources, including but in no way limited to, traditional broadcast media. A plethora of information sources. But, you were really talking about "entertainment" or information in the sense of data, I suspect. Cable is certainly more effective and efficient in conveying data (broader pipe, entirely under the control of the cable operator) and so are DBS systems. Much of the "information" conveyed by the latter isn't available on broadcast television. You are still on a nostalgia kick, Cliff. NTSC sucks. To the extent ATSC is deficient, it is so in different ways than NTSC. One way to cure oneself of analog ludditism is to watch a television show from the 1970's on an HDTV set. Eeech! Bert, what does it matter if the result is the same? No matter what the fault is, what we have is a "replacement" system that does not work as well as analog NTSC in conveying information. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
