I'm sorry, but this makes no sense at all.  The thieving fisherman will
take your Weapons, Gold amd Shield or somesuch, but they'll let you keep
the extremely valuable gold ring on your finger.  Mongoose update or
not, this needs to be left as it is.
Uh, perhaps I didn't explain this too well, but the Mongoose edition says that the Fishermen take all Backpack Items and Weapons, but the *only* Special Item they take is the Seal of Hammerdal. All other SIs remain in your possession. Our current footnote doesn't accurately convey this, probably because we got things a bit garbled.
