Hi, Andrew!

Portset told me that they will provide updates with a CD Rom which you merely insert.

Apparently the Windows System merely starts up automatically, and if it doesn't you just pull out the plug.

This never worked on the System ordered by my wife and subsequently sent back.

At 23:27 13/05/2006, Andrew Hodgson typed furiously:
Hi,

The webpage is at:

http://www.portset.co.uk/pdmc.htm

The problem with it is that it just has no video output, which although
they had a good reason for doing this I don't believe there are many
blind people who are not paying a television license for one reason or
another, (i.e, if you have a video recorder you need a license), and it
just really makes the product closed to anyone else who needs to use it.
I still really applaud Portset for what they are doing, but I wouldn't
buy it without video out.

The other questions I have on the unit would be how would software
updates be delivered to users, and how easy would the product be to
recover (due to the fact it has a Windows based OS onboard) if a failure
occurred (i.e, file corruption etc)?

I have been looking into various appliances for various applications at
work, and these are two very important questions that I always ask.

Thanks.
Andrew.
