If you are referencing to the difference between masks and respirators? In which case, I of course meant respirators :) - commonly enough, though perhaps technically incorrectly, called masks.

I keep hearing that there is no benefit - if it is true then why do doctors etc use respirators? Why didn't all the doctors and nurses treating ebola patients get ebola?

N-95 masks are about £3-£4 each here, FFP3 masks (=~ N-99) about £10-£15. Supply is limited, but supplies of KN-95 respirators from China are perhaps actually increasing - the main problem with them is trusting Chinese quality control, which for non-medical goods can be a bit iffy. I don't know how tight their medical goods quality enforcement is.

I have been buying some for friends n' family (I already have anti-virus-suitable chemical ppe for myself - not connected with COVID).
