It's not a good idea to use it internally, though, as in the (much

Zinc, in contrast, has many biological roles, to the point where
people have complained that the amount of zinc their factory is
allowed by the EPA to emit in waste is actually less than the RDA
recommendation for human consumption. Copper, too, is an essential
nutrient, though its RDA is only about a tenth of zinc's; copper
poisoning is very much a known phenomenon.
Copper and brass are still great for doorknobs and the like, though
the modern practice with brass is to cover it with a thin clear coat,
which keeps it bright and shiny but eliminates its anti-germ effects.
The brass itself might just be a thin plating. And if there's no
clear coat and the "brass" still never tarnishes, it might be a thin
coat of vapor deposited zirconium nitride rather than brass.
