I
know several companies
exist that have gone the distro route but I a sure
most of the business on
the Linux end are services.
You gotta be kidding me. What is your profession?

I should have been more explicit but I thought most guys would understand
what I said. Anyways, what I meant was that the software services industry
(whatever be the designation or the domain) is going to provide the majority
of technical jobs in the near future and that guys need to build up
awareness/experience in IT per se, to be able to compete well in the job
market. I did not specifically mention that other jobs/roles do not or will
not exist that require Linux/FLOSS experience.
