Assuming that you read all of the useful mail you get, which may
include many mailing list messages, won't the online interface add
more overhead? Of course, we all get some spam message or the other
which we might delete without even opening it.
Hi,
I have been thinking about the same whenever I open the Thunderbird at
home. In office, I don't have any upload/download restrictions as we
have an unlimited connection here. But at home, with ! GB limit for a
month, half of it is taken for all my mail, 4 mailing lists, other group
mails, forwards and more. Due to this, at home I have set the settings
such that I download all my mails only from LUG and my personal ID. I
have disabled all other mails, especially from the linux-kenrel mailing
list as I get a minimum of 200 mails per day. I also tried making the
settings such that only headers are obtained, but I dint find comfy with
it as some times I wished to see the mail directly and seeking the mail
content was an additional over head. Think if a mail client can provide
an email like interface, then it would be much better :)
