[Ilugc] [OT] POP/IMAP vs. online interface for mail: which uses more bytes?

Last week a marketing executive visited our office with a proposal for -
some 56 mbps ( not kbps) 24/7and unlimited download wi max internet
connection for some attractive price. ( not remembering the exact cost )
amazing jump from kbps to mbps . that too unlimited download . that too
wireless .
it is really unbelievable
dishnet dsl in Chennai is offering this.
But doesnt sound like a residential broadband connection, if at all remotely
residential dont think it would be in affordable range.
I use Fastmail.FM, an IMAP based domain. Allows you to filter emails capped
by some maximum attachment size (that should save some BW). But donno if it
allows that filtering for Guest type accounts (IMAP is free though). I've
been using for almost 3 yrs now and found it pretty good. The webmail is
pretty lightweight too.
I guess they even have the instructions to configure in pine. Without all
those HTML, think that should be a BW efficient alternative.
