Not really a direct answer to your question, but today it's easy to
upgrade to an unlimited traffic account. Touchtel for instance
sells 128kbps connections for ~ Rs 600 per month.
An unlimited traffic account has several advantages:
1. You never have to worry about internet traffic, and can download
ISOs, Bittorrent, etc. at will.
2. Did you read 1?
3. All ISP traffic monitoring systems are faulty, and you'll eventually
end up fighting with them at some point for incorrect billing.
Touchtel once billed me Rs 70,000. Tataindicom regularly
billed me Rs 4000 per month while the same 256kbps unlimited
connection would have cost me only Rs 900.
Metered traffic is practical only when your connection is *very* slow.
My Reliance R-Connect wireless has a 1GB cap, but my typical
usage would never exceed ~200MB.
