I am actually quite amazed that you don't. From your last comment
asking
for feedback, it appears that you are even sincere about it, which
is even
more amazing!
feedback is the most valuable thing a programmer can get. In India,
to be polite, even if one thinks a site or code sucks bigtime, one
makes some non-committal remark. Which is of no good to anybody. I
much prefer if people ruthlessly dissect my work - that way I can
improve it. And if they feel that they should attack me personally
while doing it, no problem, as long as their criticisms are honest.
For example, I have been very ruthless in criticising certain bad
Tamil translations - and have been hauled up for 'discouraging'
translations. Yes, shoddy, careless translations *should* be
discouraged because in the end, they wind up misinforming and
misleading people who dont know english. If the person takes it
personally, that just shows lack of professionalism.
But I know that won't be the attitude of most people. I have seen
that in
many discussion lists (especially in India) that discussions can
get down
and dirty.. even to the personal level very quickly and the real
issues
which were being discussed is forgotten and personalities are
attacked.
Would like to see some of that avoided on this list.
this list is very sane in that very few personal clashes take place.
But one reason why Indians contribute more when they leave India is
that they escape from this feudal atmosphere of being afraid to
criticise and being more afraid of criticism.
A VB.NET equivalent for FOSS is actually a very interesting topic, but
that is now forgotten with all the insults flying around. Thats
pretty
sad.
it will come up again, but if you read the original post, the OP was
looking for something easy to do - if you want easy, you will never
amount to anything - especially in the FOSS world.
