I think you should distinguish between a personal attack and a
legitimate criticism. He has not attacked me personaly. He has
questioned my credentials to make pronouncements of web programming,
and his question is based on a review of my status/capabilities as web
programmer. If I told Tendulkar that he doesnt know how to bat, he is
quite legitimate in asking me how many runs I have scored in test
cricket.

        Sorry, that is indeed classic argumentum ad hominem.  Your
 credentials do not matter a whit if what you are saying is correct; he
 should attack the argument not the (credentials of) the man.

        In any case, the argument that only a seasoned practitioner
 can ever critique anything is in itself flawed: most movie critics are
 not held to the standard of having produced movies of equal or better
 quality.  The same goes for art critics, book reviewers ...
