I think we have to differentiate between (a) teaching FOSS, rather,
imparting FOSS knowledge and (b) enabling the colleges to conduct FOSS
courses that are part of the FOSS curriculum. Anna Univ colleges are
expected to send the teachers to attend Faculty Development Programmes. In
a number of such FDPs, ILUG members have participated, and am sure, are
ready to participate in future. However, it may be a question of cutting
the leg to fit the shoe size.
At present, to my knowledge, Anna Univ Coimbatore syllabus has a FOSS
theory course in 3rd year and Anna University (Chennai or for all?) has
FOSS Lab. Colleges with FOSS enabled staff don't seem to have much problem
but others have faced difficulties. On top of it, there is a worry about
examiners -- many of them might have just heard about FOSS! In this
respect, making the relevant slides, presentations, etc., might be worth
the trouble. I understand there is a manual for FOSS Lab. It could be
elaborated or reworked -- by the general norms, a companion for the FOSS
Lab manual (?sic)
