At present, to my knowledge, Anna Univ Coimbatore syllabus has a FOSS
theory course in 3rd year
Anna Univ, Coimbatore has two FOSS subjects
Open Source Software (theory + practical) in the sixth semester
Open Source Tools and Components (theory only) in the eighth semester
and Anna University (Chennai or for all?) has
FOSS Lab.
Chennai (CS-2406) and Thirunelveli (CS-77)
Colleges with FOSS enabled staff don't seem to have much problem
but others have faced difficulties.
Myself trained about 130+ college staffs in six different workshops to
handle FOSS Lab in between March '2011 to August ' 2011.
National Engineering College, Kovilpatti, Tuticorin Dt.
MIT, Chennai
S.M.K. Fomra Institute of Technology, Chennai
DMI College of Engineering, Chennai
St. Xaviers Catholic College of Engineering, Thovalai, KK Dt.
KCG College of Technology, Chennai
In this
respect, making the relevant slides, presentations, etc., might be worth
the trouble. I understand there is a manual for FOSS Lab. It could be
elaborated or reworked -- by the general norms, a companion for the FOSS
Lab manual (?sic)
Out of 12 lab exercises in FOSS Lab, myself created video tutorials
for 9 (except PHP/PERL/Python) and given to all the colleges. Both
staffs and students have utilised them when working in the labs.
This year, 40+ new colleges will be additionally taking the FOSS lab
courses. So, 2 or more workshops this year would definitely help
these new colleges.
