Bob; I stated that it was being bought by the old and infirm. Aside from the latter word, THIS IS DRAWN DIRECTLY FROM FREEVIEW PRESS RELEASES ON THEIR MARKETING. In an attempt at a riposte, you explained that much of that is an indirect sale. You do know that most Christmas presents are not top shelf items, don't you? Ever notice that Chia pets are only advertised at Christmas? Would you ever buy one for yourself? When someone buys something for somebody else, it's an indirect sale. It does not follow that the purchase is used much. In real life. You clearly need a dose of reality. Have you ever encountered another list member in real life? I have encountered several over the last few years. Sometimes, right up front, or after a few minutes of small talk, they tend to tell me that I'm one of the few rational people on this list. Your name, and that of a few others, tends to come up in a different context. Frankly, I don't care much what people think about me, and to date, in my "travels" marketing my wares, I have encountered only one list lurker who is in a position to buy my wares. In that case, I had already showed what I'm finishing up work on to his boss. The common question among all list members I have encountered in real life (with the clear exception of Craig) is "What the f**k (sometimes a different word is used) is Bob Miller doing on this list?" So, please tell us. You are not interested in TV, or broadcasting, or cable? What are you doing here? Is FUD a way of life for you? If so, you clearly are failing at it. You stated that Freeview was being purchased by the old and infirm. I stated that it was just the opposite. I in no way suggested that the success of Freeview was predicated on the purchase of receivers by children for their parents. The success of Freeview is a combination of a good product and a decent modulation. As other countries with other model become increasingly successful around the world our OTA transitions failure will stand out all the more. Take what I presented anyway you like but it must be relatively easy to find a receiver in the UK since 5 million will have been found soon.
