Hi Derek,
Had to quote you on the following as this is easy to explain.
Derek said;
The totally blind will have no issue about not able so seee keys.
The main issue for the totally blind is being able to feel the dot on
key 5 but those that can see, don't seem to like doing things
by touch.
This goes way back to the kind of socialisation and teaching with partials
have had. We've been expected to use all the remaining sight with have,
even at times where we could benefit from just being more tactile.
Unfortunately, I've fallen into the "using all my remaining" to do just
about everything. I would go on but, I'm drifting away from access tech
here. However, I think this is the same for any partial sighted person. I
should have been taught to handle situations with remaining sight and
without. Would have been better.
To the others, thanks for the good advice. I think the machine that beeps,
in the co-op, is a good one actually. It's a step further in the C & P
machine being accessible. Using a machine with a beeping system would give
me some encouragement to go chip and pin.
I'd like to see progress in the accessibility of these machines in the
future.
All the best,
Justin
