Yes Derek, I believe that many people who have had a cash/debit card have been allocated the same number for C and P as for cash point withdrawals. You can however change the PIN for use at the cash machine without affecting the C and P number, or at least you can with Lloyds TSB. Just the one card in my case. True, some may find remembering two numbers a bit off-putting, but it works for me. It does have the advantage of making your card useless for thieves who grab it who may have seen your C and P number and go straight off to withdraw cash. If I've one criticism of C and P machines it is that it is too easy for others to see from a distance the number you enter. Many are much too open visually.
