I disagree. Microsoft still have a lot to do.Since 2011 I have never had to employ support for any issues on my Mac because Accessibility is built into the OS across the system. So for example, when a problem occurred with my OS last year I was able to format my primary drive and download and install a completely fresh copy of Mac OS and then restore all my apps and data without any sighted help. This is possible on the Mac because Accessibility support is inbuilt across the OS.
On Windows the situation is completely different. For example I know of no accessible way of looking at BIOS settings. So in the same period I have on average had to employ assistance fairly regularly to cope with problems which arise with my Windows PC. None of these issues are beyond me technically but simply require someone with sight to resolve. I thought I had protected myself with a combination of Re-image and Snapshot packages on the windows side but as I discovered a couple of weeks ago it takes only a minor hardware glitch for these packages to fall over despite these precautions. In this situations the images become useless and a new install is required. . Then once again the need for sighted help re-emerges. People are trying to develop talking windows installers but Microsoft should embed this accessibility into all its installation packages.

First of all want to apologize for cross posting but want to raise an important question. For all who have not watched the presentation that Microsoft put out regarding the win 10 consumer preview this is the audio link. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16617710/videoplayback.m4a Note. The presentation is a full presentation without the cutting off of the question answer session I have only converted into audio so that it becomes small to download. The original video presentation is about 1.35 GB In the entire presentation of about 2hrs 19 min and 23 seconds Microsoft has not discussed on accessibility or regarding adding a screen reader to windows 10 and I mean full fledge screen reader. So now what do we do next. Although there are some fantastic things in this presentation will not spoil the excitement watch and see ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
