IMO this kind of advocacy is in bad taste. In a number of such
instances, instead of attempting to troubleshoot a problem which
includes hardware issues, people tend to use that as a opportunity to
pimp up their favorite thing. Distro hopping doesn't grow the base for
Linux.
Actually, the advice to have a live cd around (of whatever
distribution you want) is a good one -- whether or not you want to
never install the distro the live cd is built around.
The idea is to rapidly rule out hardware issues -- if it works
with the live cd, you know that the problem is in software
configuration.
You should not get so thin skinned about your favorite
distribution that you start attacking people offering diagnostic help.
