I actually managed to manually trim out a lot of the garbage generated by Inkscape, producing a second version (attached). It contains the same amount of raw data, but is 28.1k uncompressed (3.75k as svgz) which is much more acceptable. If it looks like it is worth continuing then I can persist with this later, it still needs completing and a bit of a spruce-up. ----- Original Message ---- From: Simon Osborne <outspaced@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: projectaon@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, 14 April, 2009 15:21:19 Subject: [projectaon] Re: Proposed new CRT On 14/04/2009 13:50, Iain Smith wrote: > ----- Original Message ---- > From: David Davis<feline1@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> >> --- iainsmith@xxxxxxxxx wrote: > > 2) Firefox can open the SVG file and view the image, but it does not scale > and cannot be resized. The problem with that is that the whole site domain (i.e. projectaon.org) will also be scaled to the same size, I think. So getting the table right to view might mean making the text on all other pages too large/too small. > Okay; that appears to work, but I was thinking more along the lines that in > reverse (i.e. automatically sizing the text, etc based on the overall size of > the table). If you save the SVG from Inkscape as a Compressed Plain SVG (*.svgz) it comes out at about 18.1Kb, which should be fine. We already serve the flowcharts for the b ooks as svgz files, so the projectaon.org server can cope with that.
