The best option that I'm aware of to create SVG > is Inkscape. Any other suggestions? Inkscape is good. It's also something that wouldn't be hard to hand-code if you want a neat, efficient table and if you have a neatness- and efficiency-obsessed, SVG hand-coding volunteer around. *waves* :-) *However*... I personally think that the right way to go is to define the table in HTML and then style it with CSS. This gets around pretty much all the objections raised about the size and scaling to different screens. It also gives us a nice, accessible table. I've attached a mockup of a table with two CSS stylesheets (Firefox users can switch between them at View -> Page Style) -- one is a close copy of Jon's new table, and the other is a slightly less faithful rendition of the original books' style. It's just a mockup and could be improved in many ways, but consider this a proof of concept. :-) I may do up that SVG table later... -- Tim Pederick
