AFAIK in TN, there is NO unity between the people, who are responsible
for taking this steps. Everyone wants to push his/her own idea.
I spoke to Mr. Senthilnathan, who was involved in discussions of a
committee formed to put forward proposals for correcting Tamil
Unicode. He essentially said what Bharathi says.
Every one wants to push their ideas.
Members are book publishers, tamil font developers etc.
Almost no one had proper technical understanding.
According to Mr. Senthilnathan, the case should be presented by
technical people. What are the problems of the current code space in
technical implementation? What are the solutions in line with the
policies of Unicode consortium.
He mentioned 2 points:
1. Ordering/sorting is not the goal of Unicode, it should be handled
by individual applications.
2. Character counts (2 slots for the same character) is not an Unicode
issue, but should be handled by each application.
