All true...provided their website is fully accessible to people using screen-readers / magnification software...which I don't know if it is or isn't but this is the danger. I personally want as much as I can get via email / websites but what I don't then want is to be confronted by an inaccessible website...that I would class as discrimination. Just throwing that into the pot! -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tink Watson Sent: 17 August 2005 10:29 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: lakelands catalogue Derek, With respect to the DDA, I don't believe that this would be considered discriminatory. The service is being provided in an accessible format, over the Internet. The law only requires that a service be provided accessibly and that this may include offering alternative formats of material. Here is the reply, do any of you think they are discriminating given that they do offer print hard copy catalogues and even on tape. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --- Thank you for contacting us with a request that we produce our Christmas catalogue in Braille. This is not something we are generally asked for, in fact yours is the only request I am aware of in recent years. I notice that you have asked us to e mail you rather than ring, which suggests to me that you have Braille reading facilities on your PC. Although our current website does not provide these facilities, our new website which goes live in the middle of September will be Braille compatible. All our catalogues feature on our website, including our Christmas ones. This will be the best way for you to access our products as catalogues quickly become out of date whereas our website is constantly updated and can give you instant information on stock availability. With kind regards. Yours sincerely, Elaine Greenwood Director of Marketing. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq This email is intended solely for the addressee.
