Forgive the contradiction, but isn't that what intersection explorer does?
Can you (from IE) check out nearby things? I'd imagine you can't plan a
route from within it, which is a feature that Sendero's GPS option gives
you.
I must say that in my years of Sendero GPS usage, I hardly ever used the
virtual mode. I may not be a representative user though.

Well, I think one thing he is referring to is a virtual mode or sometimes
called browse mode.
