0 I agree with you about Microsoft and Accessibility, they really dropped
0 the ball with Windows Phone 7. Fortunately, there are alternatives. I
0 only use a mac at home now, and I use an iphone and android for
0 different things. The fact is, windows mobile 6 is a dying breed, both
0 on phones and note takers. It simply makes no sense to pay more for
0 these note takers, when you can get a laptop for much less, and they do
0 more. For Sendero, it makes sense to expand their product on to IOS and
0 Android. Right now, Android is the top smart phone OS in the world.
0 Symbian was decent, but like windows mobile, it's on the way out. You
0 can still get Symbian phones, but it makes no sense to buy in to a
0 platform that is dying fast. Android and IOS are the operating systems
0 to have and use for mobile devices, at least for the next few years probably.

0 0 Yes, and had Microsoft come up with good accessibility standards, etc.

0 0 So, if a developer wants the freedom to do things their way without
0 0 following Apple's rules they can go to Android, and be a sloppy
0 0 developer and never have to worry about being told that their work is
0 0 inferior and the end user suffers as a result.
0
0 0 Apply those same principals in a business and the company would go
0 0 under because their software developers would refuse to work together
0 0 to come up with applications that will allow the company to do the
0 0 things they need to do.

0 0 Well, that can be a risk of any operating system, the best way to avoid
0 0 that is good old fashion common sense, granted, on IOS that's probably
0 0 not as much of a risk, but you're stuck having to do everything the way
0 0 Apple wants, don't get me wrong, I like both platforms, but for
0 0 different reasons.

0 0was Hey everyone, was thinking a bit more about the possibility of the full
0 0was Sendero GPS product being developed on the iphone and Android.
0 0was Actually, I would think it would be easier on Android than the iphone
0 0was for a couple of reasons. First, Android allows self voicing apps to be
0 0was developed much easier. On the iphone, there is no way for applications
0 0was to speak using the TTs engine that is built in to the iphone, which is
0 0was what voiceover uses. So, Sendero would need to either include their own
0 0was tts engine, which would increase cost, or rely on voiceover to read
0 0was everything, which would not allow the app to really be used in the
0 0was background. Also, there would be no easy way to copy maps to the
0 0was iphone, unless the entire country was included in the app the way
0 0was Navigon and TomTom work. Or, it could just download maps as it needs
0 0was them the way the look around app does, but the TTS would still be a
0 0was major issue. On the other hand, Android would not have any of these
0 0was problems. It provides an AP
0 0 I
0 0was to create talking applications, and it works in the background, the
0 0was way Google navigation does. Also, copying maps to Android devices is
0 0was easy since you can just connect the phone in mass storage mode and copy
0 0was the maps to the SD card. And of course, with android, there is no
0 0was approval process to deal with, which is why the look around app could
0 0was be updated so fast. For these reasons, if Sendero does plan to expand
0 0was to other platforms, Android would be the logical first choice I
