The reality is that MVPD service is not going to disappear. But it will morph 
into new services, some of which will be delivered via the Internet. AT&T 
bought DirecTV, betting they can sell this service for many years to come. The 
question is how much will double play and triple play bundles contribute to the 
ROI of new cable overbuilds.

Broadband alone is probably not an attractive opportunity.

Really. What us wrong with FIOS broadband?

Go back and re-read. I don't need to repeat everything a thousand times, 
Craig. In fact, look it up online, and see what others don't like about it.

You have yet to tell us what YOU don't like about it. Or Cox broadband for that 
matter. 

There may well be a large number of consumers who do not like Verizon FIOS. We 
already know that many people do not like their cable providers...

Such is the reality when dealing with regulated monopolies.

The NYT article should have focused more on technical alternatives, and less 
on "good paying jobs."

Gimmick.

The article took advantage of the Union walkout to analyze the entirety of 
Verizon's business options. Good paying jobs are becoming rare because of the 
gross distortions in what was at one time a market based economy.
