That's why I compared how close it was to the Shannon limit, in its most robust mode, against the Chinese new standard. It is, if anything, closer. It is perhaps preferable to start with a simpler constallation to achieve more robustness, but once you have the processing power to use extra coding, that is also a possibility. And it has the advantage that the robust channels can be fine-tuned within the whole 6 MHz channel, instead of being being cut out with a meat axe as you do with a separate constellation.
