Good suggestions from Ingo there - I like the idea of having an expandable "more" link. Also - whilst I appreciate the need to avoid clutter and overburdening nodes with special information, one nice aspect of having information in the nodes is that it helps the reader actually recognise the sections from memory. One really nice way to go to town on that idea would be for sections in the book that have illustrations: perhaps a thumbnail of the illustration could be imbedded in SVG?

Let's ignore the unsolved problem concerning the extraction of the information for the moment. I don't think anything and everything needs to be presented directly in the (initially displayed) graph. I think, initially, only basic information about the sections should be shown. A few ideas how to provide additional information: * provide tooltips for nodes * show the additional information in a "window" that is opened, e.g. when clicking on a "More..." link in the node * add the possibility to expand/collapse nodes, e.g. when clicking on a "More..." link in the node or simply when clicking the node (but the latter would be a hidden feature and thus isn't good usability) Regards, Ingo ~~~~~~ Manage your subscription at http://www.freelists.org/list/projectaon ~~~~~~ Manage your subscription at http://www.freelists.org/list/projectaon
